Coaching update
Clinics (Level 1-4)
The National, and RMD, quota for clinics was hit already. There are not many seats left but the decision was made yesterday to add 17 more clinics across the four levels before 12/31. These are getting added daily and have been filling fast.
There are also 10 6u/8u clinics between now and the deadline.
So between these extra clinics, and the 5+ months coaches have had to complete this, there have been more than enough chances.
Temp Cards for anyone who does not complete their required level will be available in the LMS started on 1/1. Reminder coaches only get 1 temp card. So if they used it previously, they need to get into a clinic.
Continuing Education
For coaches that fall into the CE cycle, that deadline is also 12/31. There was quite a lengthy call yesterday about what happens to credits if a coach completes some credits, but does not complete all 5 by that date. Originally the count would reset to 0 on 1/1/26 and the coach would need to retake 5 credits to be eligible. This might be changing but until advised otherwise this is out it is.
There are at least 5 credits available, for free and 24/7, on the LMS. So there is no excuse to not complete this by 12/31.
There is also an in-person option in Minnesota at the World Junior Championship. Coaches can receive 4 credits and see an amazing lineup of speakers. Obviously logistics will be the difficult part for RMD coaches but if anyone is traveling there already, here is an added bonus.
We have been asked to politely ask the affiliate leaderships and registrars to continue communicating with coaches about CE specifically. The National Office will be sending reminders to L4 and L5 coaches each Monday between now and the end of the year. Maybe if we nudge our associations at a local level to push this as well, most of our coaches will get the hint and complete their requirements in a timely manner. We were told that registrars can pull a report of L4 and L5 coaches at an affiliate level. Let me know if anyone would like help with language for this email.
